If you’re planning on taking a summer vacation and are undergoing orthodontic treatment, there are a few things you should do in order to be prepared. This includes making sure you pack properly, especially dental items like:
- Travel toothbrush
- Travel toothpaste (make sure it’s fluoride)
- Travel-sized mouthwash
- Floss or interdental brushes
- Orthodontic wax
It’s smart to dedicate a small back or box just to your oral hygiene products. There are even pre-made dental hygiene travel kits that you can purchase already packed!
What to Avoid While on Vacation
Below are a few things to avoid eating while you’re on vacation with your dental braces:
- Corn on the cob
- Hard candies
- Pretzels
- Hard cookies
- Hard rolls or bagels
- Gummy or sticky foods
- Biting into whole fruits
- Nuts like almonds, peanuts, and cashews
